Powered by Compétences Québec and supported by the Ministry of Education, the Trade Challenge is a friendly competition that allows students to discover the world of vocational training and the trades that stem from it.
Held for the first time at the Brome-Missisquoi Campus (CBM) and the Centre régional intégré de formation (CRIF), the Trade Challenge welcomed just over 1,500 Grade 7 students from the Val-des-Cerfs School Service Centre (CSS du Val-des-Cerfs) and the Eastern Townships School Board (ETSB). The eight participating schools were: École de la Haute-Ville, École l’Envolée, École Joseph-Hermas-Leclerc, École Monseigneur-Desranleau, École Wilfrid-Léger, École Jean-Jacques-Bertrand, École Massey-Vanier, and Massey-Vanier High School.
In a vibrant atmosphere, students had the opportunity to explore various vocational training center facilities while taking on five team-based challenges. Each challenge won by a team earned their school one point. Additionally, for each challenge, the team that stood out for their team spirit earned an extra point.
At the end of the competition, two schools were crowned overall winners. Massey-Vanier High School stood out for its team spirit, while the École l’Envolée won the most challenges. The student councils of both schools were awarded a $500 cash prize, courtesy of Compétences Québec.

Unexpectedly, École Wilfrid-Léger impressed the organizing committee with its originality. Viking hats for students, a mascot, and a rallying cry earned the school the “Organizing Committee’s Favourite” award. A commemorative frame will be presented to the school.

Beyond these prizes, each student had the opportunity to better understand vocational training and explore the high-demand trades in our region.
