The Trade Challenge (TTC): Where Friendly Competition Meets Innovation
Imagine an event where friendly competition and learning blend together in an electrifying atmosphere. The Trade Challenge is not just a simple competition, it’s an immersive experience that lets you discover skilled trades with passion and curiosity. Powered by Compétences Québec and supported by the Ministry of Education, this fun and stimulating event has won the hearts of thousands of students since its creation in 2017.
A Fun and Friendly Competition
The Trade Challenge reinvents the concept of open house days with a dynamic and engaging approach. Alongside your classmates, you form a team to take on practical challenges inspired by various skilled trades. Whether it’s in electrotechnics, esthetics, healthcare, or mechanics, each challenge allows you to explore a different field. Each round lasts 12 minutes and showcases your talents or those of your teammates. While you participate, your team cheers you on to give your very best. This diversity of ctivities gives you the chance to discover trades you may never have considered before.
The Eastern Townships Experience: A Growing Success
This event is supported by VT Effect, a group of nine vocational training centers in the Eastern Townships dedicated to promoting vocational education. In the Eastern Townships, the Trade Challenge has seen tremendous success. The 2024-2025 school year edition allowed 4,500 first- and second-year secondary students from 25 high schools to enjoy this vibrant experience in vocational training centers. Students participate in team-based challenges, earning points for their performance and team spirit. At the end of the competition, two schools are crowned winners: one for the highest score and the other for the best team spirit. The winning schools receive a $500 grant for their student council, offered by Compétences Québec.
