After two days of intense competition at the Centre de foires in Quebec City, the 17th edition of the Quebec Trades and Technology Olympiad concluded with a medal ceremony honoring those who distinguished themselves as the best in their field across the province.
The Eastern Townships delegation consisted of 24 competitors participating in 18 disciplines. Twelve of them were recognized for their excellence and expertise in their respective trades.
Here is the complete list of medalists:
Gold Medals :
- From Centre de formation professionnelle de Coaticook – CRIFA, in Landscape Gardening, Logan Poisson and Charlie Veronneau;
- From Cégep de Sherbrooke, in Mechatronics, Antoine Gagnon and Victor Goudreault.
Silver Medals :
- From Centre de formation professionnelle 24-Juin, in Autobody Repair, Brandon Bizier;
- From Cégep de Sherbrooke, in Mechanical Engineering – Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Samuel Bolduc;
- From Centre régional intégré de formation (CRIF), in Electrical Installations, Etienne Galipeau;
- From Campus Brome-Missisquoi (CBM), in Industrial Mechanics, Antonin Dumont.
Bronze Medals :
- From Cégep de Granby, in Mechatronics, Cedrik Dubreuil and Xavier Gingras;
- From Centre de formation professionnelle 24-Juin, in Precision Machining, Sebastien Jacques;
- From Centre Expé, in CNC Machining, Mathieu Roy-Sinotte.
Medallions of Excellence :
Medallions of Excellence were also awarded to participants who achieved scores above the average in their discipline without placing in the top three.
Four Eastern Townships delegates received this distinction:
- Marika Malenfant, from Centre de formation professionnelle de Coaticook – CRIFA, in Health, Assistance and Nursing;
- Antoine Bisson, from Centre de formation professionnelle 24-Juin, in Automotive Mechanics;
- Tommy Gosselin, from Centre Expé, in Welding;
- Emilie Ouellette-Verreault, from Centre de formation professionnelle 24-Juin, in Sales and Consulting.
Organized by Compétences Quebec, the Quebec Trades and Technology Olympiad brought together nearly 300 competitors from 111 training institutions, representing 11 regions of Quebec, to demonstrate their know-how in 34 skilled trades through demanding, high-level technical challenges.
The Eastern Townships delegation was made up of 24 candidates competing in 18 disciplines—trades that are taught through vocational training programs offered at the following institutions: Campus Brome-Missisquoi, Centre de formation professionnelle 24- Juin, Centre de formation professionnelle de Coaticook – CRIFA, Centre de formation professionnelle EXPÉ, CRIF – Centre régional intégré de formation, LVTC – Lennoxville Vocational Training Centre or at the college level at Cégep de Granby or Cégep de Sherbrooke.
